Wilfrid Laurier University
Board of Governors - Open Seat
There is currently one opportunity on the Wilfrid Laurier University Board of Governors for an undergraduate student, for a term ending June 30, 2025.

The Board of Governors has control over the University's property and revenues and the conduct of its business and affairs, except with respect to matters that the Wilfrid Laurier University Act stipulates are jurisdiction of the Senate. The Board of Governors appoints the President and Vice-Chancellor, approves the annual budget, plans and develops the physical resources of the university, establishes and collections tuition and other fees, oversees the future strategic direction of the institution, approves university-wide policies, and invests funds held by the university endowment, pension plan and other funds.
Students are expected to serve on at least one of the following committees:

-
Audit, Risk, and Compliance
-
Executive
-
Finance, Investment, and Property
-
Human Resources

Eligibility: Any Laurier undergraduate student is eligible to run for the Board of Governors; however, they must not be a member of a student body, faculty, staff, or governing body of an external degree-granting institution throughout the duration of their term. Candidates must be registered students at Laurier at the start of their term. Students must attend at least 50% of meetings to maintain their position on the Senate. To preserve the perspective of current students and their needs, candidates are encouraged to consider if they are planning to graduate during their elected term. If so, serving a partial limited-time term is an option.

Nomination packages can be submitted to sucro@wlu.ca and suboardchair@wlu.ca or in person to the SU Desk at the Students' Union office in Brantford or Waterloo by September 20, 2024, at 12:00 NOON.

The election will be facilitated by the Students' Union Board of Directors and will be held on September 23, 2024 at 6:00pm in the Students' Union's Waterloo Boardroom (online participation available).
