Updated May 9, 2023: Bus service resumes on Thursday with no fares until Victoria Day

Waterloo Region – Grand River Transit bus service will resume on Thursday, May 11 following UNIFOR Local 4304’s vote to accept an agreement with the Region of Waterloo.

We understand that residents rely on transit on a daily basis and to show our appreciation for our customers, no fares will be collected on transit from Thursday, May 11, up to and including May 22, Victoria Day. Customers who purchased a May monthly pass before May 8 will receive a June pass.

UNIFOR Local 4304, representing Grand River Transit and MobilityPLUS operators, MobilityPLUS reservationists, fleet mechanics, and service attendants is now on strike


As a result, GRT and MobilityPLUS buses are not currently operating. ION trains will continue to run as usual. For more information please visit GRT’s customer updates website.


If you rely on Grand River Transit buses to get to campus you will need to find another way to get to campus as classes and other activities will continue as scheduled.
